A national disgrace

"Canadians should think of Canada's military as a tool box for the government to use to fix things that are of vital interest to Canadians . . . our tools are rusting."

Or missing altogther.

The history of bravery on the field of battle is long and glorious, from Somme to Dieppe to Korea to Afghanistan. Give them the tools they need to do us proud.

Know thy enemy, know thyself, and you will be invincible.

(Sun Tzu, The Art Of War)

"If you know your enemy, the strategic challenge is to use that knowledge to force him to fight on your terms. It's even better if that fight on your terms is a fight he cannot refuse".

*THIS* is why winning the war in Iraq is the most important step in anti-terrorism since the formation of dedicated CT units in most Western countries after the Munich Olympic murders.

Off the (chin)Hook

I love the old CH-47, but let's face it, they're aging faster than Kelly LeBrock. So it's good to hear that the Osprey is now been ok'd for full production. What that bird will do to SpecOps and the Marines we don't completely know yet.

Better late than never

In first grade, I corrected my teacher about the Apollo program, so the space race has always been a passion of mine. I had but the meager gleanings of Skylab and Apollo-Soyuz in the 70's, and can still remember exactly where I was when I heard that Challenger blew up (left hand turn lane on Mill, about to westbound on Southern).

I'd always wondered about the idea behind the shuttle. It didn't seem cheap nor easy, and now NASA seems to agree.

Get NASA out of the way and let private industry go at it. Turn NASA into the FAA of space.

Maybe war is the A.N.S.W.E.R.

I guess we're not supporting the right war for these guys.

And he isn't hosting a show on E!, either

"Harry (Reid) should act like a leader, not Tara Reid. After all, he's not blond, hasn't had implants and isn't drunk, at least as far as I can tell."

And doesn't look as good flashing reporters on the red carpet, either. Not that I ever want to see that...

Pentagon: Top Zarqawi Aide Killed

Well this is certainly good news. What's really interesting about this is this line: "As the aide to Zarqawi, Azzam was reportedly in control of financing foreign fighters coming into Iraq".

Zarqawi's tactics of late have relied heavily on foreign fighters, as his Sunni "allies" have started to blanch at his tactics of targeting Iraqis instead of coalition soldiers.

Interesting times.

It's an honor just to have it here.

The 2005 Medal Of Honor Society meeting is in town this week. For most kids these days, Medal of Honor is just the title of a video game about a war a long time ago.

But consider this: By tradition, if an MOH winner enters a room displaying his medal, *everyone* in the room, even the President and the Joint Chiefs, salutes him first.

Think of the best President we've ever had. He would salute even the lowliest MOH winner first.

And with people like this earning this recognition, I can see why.

God bless you, gentleman. Your country, and one of it's citizens-to-be here in this blog, salute you.

Gentleman, please!

There's no fighting in here, this is war room!
